What services do you offer?
We offer comprehensive, individualized care including prenatal visits, labor and birth support, and postpartum/ care. We also provide flexible service options, so you can choose the type of care that feels right for you - whether that’s prenatal visits, doula support during birth, postpartum care, or a combination.
What is the difference between a doula and a midwife?
As midwives, we provide clinical care throughout pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. This includes monitoring you and your baby’s health, ordering labs and ultrasounds, and managing low-risk pregnancy and birth. A doula’s role is non-clinical—they offer emotional, physical, and informational support during pregnancy, labor, and postpartum.
Some families choose midwifery care, some choose doula support, and some choose both.
Is midwifery care safe?
Midwifery care is a safe and evidence-based option for healthy, low-risk pregnancies. We carefully screen for risk factors throughout your care and will always recommend transfer of care or collaboration with specialty providers if needed to keep you and your baby safe.
Is waterbirth available, and is the tub included?
Yes. Waterbith is available as an option for labor and/or birth. A birth tub and all necessary supplies are include as part of the global fee.
Is home birth messy?
This is one of the most common questions we are asked. While birth can naturally be a physical and messy process, your midwives come fully prepared with supplies to manage and contain it. After birth we ensure your space is cleaned up and left tidy before we depart, so you can focus fully on resting and bonding with your baby.
Do you accept insurance or Oregon Health Plan?
Yes. We are able to bill insurance and medicaid after birth and provide a reimbursement for fees paid. For families with private insurance, an out-of-network rate applies depending on your plan.
How much space do I need for a home birth?
Most people are surprised to learn that very little space is actually needed. We can make almost any kind of space work. We offer a home visit at 36 weeks to help you plan and set up your space ahead of time.
What happens if a transport to the hospital becomes necessary during birth?
In the rare event that a transport is needed we will support you through the entire process. We transfer directly into midwifery care at most local hospitals whenever possible, helping make the transition as smooth and seamless as we can. Your midwife will accompany you to the hospital, communicate with the receiving team, and continue to support you so you are not alone during the change in setting.
